How can I find a suitable job in Germany?

In Germany, the first stop in your job search is the local Employment Agency or the Job Centre. They can give you individual advice. Please note, the Job Centre (“Jobcenter”) is only the right place to go if the process for your stay in Germany has been completed and you have a residence permit. If the process has not yet been completed, the Federal Employment Agency (“Bundesagentur für Arbeit”) is the right place for you.

Federal Employment Agency

The Federal Employment Agency has a database containing job vacancies throughout Germany, which is accessible by the public. German companies also use online job boards to advertise vacancies. In addition, you can check the “Job Ads” section of the regional newspapers and of course directly on companies’ websites.

International Placement Service

If you are looking for a job, but not yet living in Germany, there are various websites to help you. The International Placement Service of the Federal Employment Agency provides advice and mediation, for instance, specifically for international professionals and trainees.
