Employment contract

When will I receive my employment contract?

If you managed to convince the company of you and your skills at the interview, the company will contact you to offer you the job. The employment contract is usually delivered by post.

Some companies arrange an appointment to hand over it personally. You should check the employment contract carefully before signing and giving/posting it back to the employer.

What are the main things I should check in the employment contract?

Check that the salary specified in the contract is the same as agreed during the interview and check that the payment method has been specified. The contract should also include a job description, the future place of employment as well as the start date and length of probationary period. The probationary period can be up to 6 months maximum.

During this period, you or your employer may terminate the contract with two weeks’ notice. The contract should also specify the notice required for contract termination after the probationary period. Holiday entitlement should also be detailed in the contract. If you work five days a week, you are legally entitled to a minimum of 20 days’ holiday a year.
